Prospect Research

As a first step, I request that you provide me with the funders you are already approaching and those who have funded you in the past. (This is to avoid duplicate research and to ensure you do not pay for information you already have.)

From there, I will find potential grant funding sources aligned with your organization, mission, and any specific project or program for which you are seeking support. For each identified prospect, I will provide you a profile with all the information needed to apply: contact information, a list of trustees, suggested request amount (based on the funder’s history), deadlines, and any other special information you should be aware of before approaching the funder.

Proposal Development

Before I begin, I will request information from you such as newsletters, annual reports, recent news articles, and past grant proposals/reports to determine which proposal information you have already developed. From there, I will send you a list of questions to secure more details related to the specific proposal (bullet points or a phone conversation are perfectly sufficient- the purpose of this is to gather the “raw data” from you, the subject matter expert, which I can then craft into a compelling proposal for funding). If you prefer, we can also do this step over the phone.

Once I have all this information in place, I will draft the full proposal and share it with you for approval or feedback. I will then make any necessary adjustments and send the final draft to you for submission to the funder. Depending on the nature of the application, the proposal, or portions thereof, may result in a template that can easily be modified for submission to other funders.

Just need another set of eyes on your proposal? I can proofread your proposal or report before submission, ensuring that your responses are clear and that you have followed the grant maker’s guidelines.

Strategy Development

Maybe you have submitted unsuccessful proposals in the past, perhaps your organization is just beginning to explore developing revenue through grants, or maybe you’re looking to develop grant writing capacity internally for a more sustainable solution. Depending on where your organization is in the grants process and where you hope to go, we can develop a customized approach to help you get there together.
